A Week of Drafts

Indecision, indecision, indecision; my greatest enemy.

Joey and I successfully "completed" our script!

We had spent the whole day writing and talking about what we wanted to do last Saturday (with exception to the hour Joey spent taking a nap. I wanted to take the time to grab something to eat at Publix by taking a walk there and try to take inspiration from our surroundings, but he just wanted to sleep) and yet, we were not successful in completing our script.

There was a lot of indecision in our draft, but we mainly just wanted at least an outline of our ideas for how the story should go that day. However, it was still bothersome of how much was left to be decided on at the time. There were way too many question marks for our liking.

Thankfully, we had a group meeting this past Monday to discuss our ideas with the rest of the class, so our classmates helped clear up how certain parts of our film would go during our group meeting. Everyone gave us good feedback on what parts of the film they did and did not like, and helped us settle on a particular ending which gave us a lot of relief.

We'll be using a resource called Celt-X to organize what we have now and send it off to the actors/actresses so they will have a sense of how the story will go about. That will help us make it into a legitimate screenplay, and then we can start my favorite part of the filmmaking planning process, ✩ THE STORYBOARD  !!!!

Not gonna lie, the script is still subject to change. To me, nothing ever truly transforms from a draft to a final copy when there are unforeseen issues in the way. It seemed that every time we went back to it, we found more and more things to change. Joey and I ended up arguing a bit because I'm very critical about what we include and exclude in the script, as I take it as a literal layout of the film and story itself. There were some parts of the script that just didn't make sense to me as I tried to visualize it and perceive the story as a member of the audience, while it made complete sense to Joey. It would also help to mention that I don't particularly enjoy writing, and Joey doesn't mind it.

They could make a drinking game out of how many times we hesitate to make a decision on something even in this most recent version of the script.

Anyways, without further ado, here is our latest "final" draft of the script!
